Basically, this site just helps you to get as much money for your textbooks as is possible. Rather, they just connect you with all of the vendors and their buying prices for the textbook in question. You can then make the best, most monetarily-advantageous decision about who to sell your books to in a short amount of time—and in turn, earn some cash at the same time!
The app is connected to the same database as the website—but it allows you to use your phone camera to scan barcodes, while the website makes you type in the ISBN. So using the mobile app seems to be a lot more efficient. A drop down menu in the upper right hand corner gave us a few different options, like access to the company FAQs and contact information…but all in all, the app gets right to business with two different input methods for finding the prices on the book you want to sell.
But BookScouter allowed us to do it in minutes. I did a quick run-through of the Google Play reviews, and came up with some pretty enlightening opinions on both sides of the line. This just seemed like an important detail, so I thought I would include it.
Many kudos deserved on this front! First of all, I must just say that I was more than impressed with the layout and design of this site. The colors are perfect, the buttons and controls are awesome, and I loved how stress-free it was to operate. Textbooks, cookbooks, coffee-table books, and other similar types of titles are all possible money-makers.
Fiction books and the like, however, tend not to be worth anything to a lot of these vendors. It just points you toward a list of buyers that you can check out—which is pretty cool. I personally feel that this app makes the textbook selling process as easy as it could possibly be. I was a huge fan, right from the beginning—and my tests and research only confirmed my initial instincts. The app is so fast to use that it will literally take you 5 minutes to check and see.
Honestly, when you calculate the time spent trying to make money with apps, it rarely works out to be more than a few dollars per hour. Most of the time, you’ll only make a few dollars per month.
